In August, Amanda and I went to the Lancaster Science
Factory and did lots of science experiments.
Here are some of our favorites.
The Whisper Dish
A whisper dish is a curved sphere. It takes sound and passes it to another
whisper dish across the room. It is
similar to a satellite dish because it has the same shape and collects waves.
Dam the Creek
At this exhibit, you build a dam out of blocks of
metal. There were draining channels at
the bottom so the dam didn’t fall. The
blocks allow small amounts of water to get through, so the pressure wouldn’t be
so strong.
Gravity Racer
At the gravity racer, there were four different tracks. Each track had a pool ball that you roll down
it. Each track was totally different,
but they were the same height. At the
end of each track, there were chalkboard erasers. When the pool balls hit the erasers, the erasers
moved the same distance but each ball took a different amount of time to go
down the track.
Bubbles
At the Lancaster Science Factory, Amanda and I spent some
time at the bubble exhibit and did some cool experiments. Look at the video below to see a video of

This Fall Amanda and I went to my house and got out one of
my science experiments. We did some cool
experiments such as making a shape out of some plastic pieces and then making a
bubble in that shape. See the pictures
below.
We also had bouncing bubble gloves. We used them to make bubbles bounce. The reason the gloves work is because the
surface is clean and without any dirt or oil.
Puzzles
There were lots of puzzles at the Lancaster Science Factory. I was very good at some of them, such as one
called the Number Puzzle.

Hey Grey! Thanks for sharing about this museum. I particularly liked the whisper dish. I love the idea that sound can bounce and be reflected just like light. I'd never heard of this museum before - I will definitely need to go and check it out. Would it be a good option for a class field trip?

It was fun to read your blog. Thanks for sharing. The Lancaster Science Museum sounds awesome. I would also love to try bouncing bubbles! I also really liked your demo video of placing 12 nails on one nail. You were very dramatic and engaging in your explanation!

It would be a great place, but it an hour and a half away. There are lots of great experiments.
