How to Hold a Crab

First you pin the crab down with your finger.  Then you grab the crab on the side of his body, right behind it's two front claws.  This way the crabs cannot pinch you.

Hi Grey! It's Nancy B with Ava & Emma. It looks like you are having a lot of fun this summer. We want to know if you have been bitten by any of your crab friends? We hope to see you soon!

I have been bitten by a spider crab and a big green crab. I did it on purpose to see what it felt like. It didn't feel good. The green crab hurt more because they are stronger and have bigger claws. The spider crab did not hurt that much and I left it on my finger for a little while.
I hope I see you too, and I have been having lots of fun this summer.

Grey - In the last picture, it looks like the little crab has sand on it's belly. What is that? Sand or something else? Also, how do you tell if a crab is male or female?

Those are actually the crab's eggs.

If the crab has a triangle on the bottom, that means it is a female. If it has a line, that means it is a male.
