Exploring Tidal Pools

On Thursday morning Amanda and I went looking looking for creatures at Stonewall Beach.  First we went on the internet to find out if it was low or high tide.  Here is the link if you are going: http://www.mvtimes.com/on-island/useful-information/tide-charts/

We wanted it to be low tide because there are more creatures during low tide.  To look for crabs you should look under rocks.

Yesterday I caught fourteen crabs that way.  In this picture I am holding a crab.

You can also swipe your hands in the seaweed and you may find a creature.  If you look in the little tidal pools between the rocks you can find sea stars.  We found one purple sea star and one red-orange sea star.  We caught two sea stars.

I had a blast!

Reading Time!!
In this picture I am reading The Adventures of Captain Underpants.

That is so neat that you found 2 sea stars! What did they feel like? How big were they? -Kate

Hi Grey, I am Amanda's Mom. Your blog is very interesting to read, especially since it is your personal adventure.

When I held the sea star it felt like a lot of tiny suction cups moving slowly on my hand. The top was bumpy. The purple one was about three inches from tip-to-tip. The orange one was a little smaller.
